Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, on Thursday, asserted that India is not facing a fuel or gas shortage amid the ongoing conflict in West Asia, and is well-prepared to handle any energy crisis. Addressing a Sainik Samman Sammelan event in Kerala, Singh emphasized that Indian Navy ships are actively ensuring the safe passage of national tankers through the strategically significant Strait of Hormuz.
Singh credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi's diplomatic acumen for securing Indian interests in the Gulf and reiterated a firm stance against cross-border terrorism, underscoring a promise of decisive retaliation to any misadventure. He highlighted a zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism since the NDA's rise to power, contrasting it with the previous mishandlings under the Congress-led UPA governments.
The Minister also focused on India's strides towards defence independence and projecting maritime strength, noting a significant boost in defence exports and self-reliance. Singh outlined ambitious plans to enhance the Indian Navy's global dominance by 2047 and revealed a substantial increase in defence production targets, urging support for the BJP in upcoming Kerala Assembly elections.
