Polish prosecutors have launched an investigation into a bomb attack that injured a Polish soldier in a U.N. peacekeeping patrol in Lebanon, the Warsaw District Prosecutor's Office announced on Thursday.

The incident took place on March 29 in Bint Jubayl, where an unidentified attacker used an improvised explosive device against the Polish convoy. The attack was largely thwarted by the Humvee's security features, according to prosecutor statements.

The injured soldier suffered wounds to his face and head. UNIFIL, the U.N. Interim Force in Lebanon, has been present since its deployment in 1978 and continues its mission amid ongoing regional conflicts.
