End of an Era: Maoist Leader Prashant Bose Dies in Custody

Maoist leader Prashant Bose, known as 'Kishan da', passed away at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences in Ranchi, Jharkhand on Friday. He had been incarcerated in Birsa Munda Jail for four years.
Bose, reportedly over 80, was a notable figure in the outlawed CPI(Maoist), orchestrating more than 100 violent incidents across India.
He was arrested in November 2021 alongside his wife, Sheela Marandi, with a bounty of Rs 1 crore on his head. The cause of his death remains undetermined, said Ranchi SSP Rakesh Ranjan.
