The KPCC chief, Sunny Joseph, recently announced that the Congress party collected approximately Rs 5.38 crore for Wayanad's landslide rehabilitation, using the funds to purchase land meant for building new homes for affected families. However, the ruling CPI(M) has labeled these assertions as false.
CPI(M) leader M Swaraj criticizes the Congress, accusing them of turning natural disasters into opportunities for financial gain without delivering on their promises. Swaraj cited previous unmet pledges post-2018 floods, claiming that, similarly, Congress allocated funds for land unsuitable for house construction in Wayanad.
In response, Joseph detailed land acquisitions and future plans, maintaining that Congress is committed to completing this project using internal funds. He also alleged interference in local elections by CPI(M), urging electoral scrutiny. These accusations have further inflamed the ongoing political debate in the region.
