The Combined Technical Association of Nagaland (CTAN) announced that the state's Forest department has committed to advertising 83 vacant Forest Guard positions within six months. This decision emerged after CTAN raised recruitment grievances and discussed pending vacancies with senior forest officials over alleged recruitment irregularities.
CTAN's convener, Meshenlo Kath, revealed that the assurance resulted from multiple meetings with forest officials, including the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and the Chief Conservator of Forests. Concerns highlighted by CTAN included backdoor appointments and examination discrepancies, prompting the submission of an 11-point representation to push for corrective measures.
The department agreed to the advertising timeframe starting from April 15, 2026, after extensive discussions. CTAN also addressed 43 promotional vacancies and pushed for promotions to accompany new recruitments. Furthermore, it was agreed that a dispensation will be sought to facilitate the advertisement of Forester-I posts pending service rule amendments. Meanwhile, the department has suspended seven personnel over examination-related discrepancies, reaffirming its commitment to transparent recruitment.
