Chief Postmaster General, Jammu and Kashmir Circle, D S V R Murthy on Tuesday visited a frontier post office along the Line of Control (LoC) in Ladakh's Turtuk area and reviewed postal operations, interacting with postal staff at one of the country's most remote border regions, officials said. Turtuk, a remote hamlet along the LoC in Ladakh, is the last village located on Indian territory. Murthy, accompanied by Superintendent of Post Offices (Ladakh Division) Arvind Kher, visited the branch office located near the LoC, officials said. A key highlight of the visit was his meeting with Raheema Bano, who has been serving at the post office since 1995, they said. Her service reflects the commitment of India Post in ensuring connectivity and delivery of services in far-flung areas, they added. The neighbouring village of Thang is also served through this branch office with regular postal services, according to officials. Officials said the Department of Posts takes pride in extending services to remote frontier areas and ensuring uninterrupted connectivity for residents living in border villages.
