J-K LG appoints deputy commissioners and superintendents of police for five new Ladakh districts

Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena on Tuesday approved the appointment of deputy commissioners DCs and superintendents of police SPs for the five newly-created districts in Ladakh, a day after their formation, officials said. The appointments were made for Changthang, Nubra, Zanskar, Sham, and Drass to ensure the immediate commencement of administrative work and operationalisation of governance structures, they said.

Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena on Tuesday approved the appointment of deputy commissioners (DCs) and superintendents of police (SPs) for the five newly-created districts in Ladakh, a day after their formation, officials said. The appointments were made for Changthang, Nubra, Zanskar, Sham, and Drass to ensure the immediate commencement of administrative work and operationalisation of governance structures, they said. Officials said the move is aimed at strengthening law and order and bringing administration closer to the people, particularly in remote and far-flung areas. The lieutenant governor directed the newly appointed officers to take charge of their respective districts without delay and work with dedication for inclusive development and to fulfil the aspirations of the people. He also said the remaining posts of subordinate officials would be filled on priority, and logistical requirements would be addressed to ensure the smooth functioning of the new districts. According to the government order, Nitish Rajoria has been posted as the deputy commissioner of Changthang, while S Z Abbas Jaffari has been appointed the superintendent of police. Mukul Beniwal and Stanzin Losal have been appointed as the deputy commissioner and superintendent of police of Nubra, respectively. Omkar Rajendra Gundage and Rigzen Sandup have been posted as the deputy commissioner and superintendent of police of Zanskar, respectively. Kunzes Angmo and Aijaz Malik have been appointed deputy commissioner and superintendent of police of Sham, respectively. Additionally, Imteeaz Kacho and Ishtyaq Ahmad have been posted as deputy commissioner and superintendent of police of Sham for Drass, respectively. The existing district administrations of Leh and Kargil will continue to function with their present officials while coordinating with the newly created districts during the transition phase, officials added.
