Nagpur is on high alert after an anonymous letter warned that radioactive material was planted in several key locations, including the RSS headquarters and a BJP office, sources said on Thursday.
The letter, received by Police Commissioner Dr. Ravinder Singal, was sent by an organization calling itself 'DSS' and claimed that Caesium-137, a highly radioactive substance, had been planted at identified locations. Extensive searches involving the NDRF and energy experts have not uncovered any radioactive material so far, leading police to suspect a hoax.
Security measures have intensified as investigations continue. The Anti-Terrorism Squad, among others, remains active in the probe to identify the letter's origin and those behind the potential threat.
