In a swift response to a devastating incident at Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has suspended a senior executive engineer after a compound wall collapse resulted in seven fatalities.
The tragedy, attributed to negligence and poor oversight, has prompted the state to launch an urgent investigation into the causes of the collapse. The high-level review meeting, chaired by Siddaramaiah and attended by Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, centered on identifying accountability and understanding the lapses involved.
The incident, which occurred amid heavy rain and strong winds, saw victims trapped under the rubble after seeking shelter from the storm. Emergency services were quick to respond, and further action is anticipated following the completion of a detailed inquiry.
