In a significant push to fast-track India's industrial infrastructure and manufacturing ambitions, Shri Amardeep Singh Bhatia, Secretary, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), conducted an extensive on-ground review of key projects under the National Industrial Corridor Programme (NICP) across Haryana and Rajasthan.

The high-level visit focused on evaluating progress, resolving implementation bottlenecks and strengthening coordination between central agencies, state governments and industry stakeholders — a move seen as critical to achieving India's target of becoming a global manufacturing hub.

Accompanied by Shri Rajat Kumar Saini, CEO & Managing Director of the National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (NICDC), the visit underscored the government's emphasis on integrated logistics, green energy adoption and cluster-based industrialisation.

₹1,029 Crore Multi-Modal Logistics Hub to Transform NCR Freight Movement

The visit commenced in Haryana with a detailed review of the Integrated Multi-Modal Logistics Hub (IMLH) at Nangal Chaudhary in Mahendragarh district — one of the flagship logistics infrastructure projects under the corridor programme.

Spread across approximately 886 acres and approved at a cost of ₹1,029 crore, the hub is being developed under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model through a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), with equal equity participation from NICDC Trust and the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC).

The facility is strategically positioned to serve freight flows across key industrial belts including:

  • Manesar, Bawal and Dharuhera in Haryana

  • Industrial zones in East Rajasthan

  • Western and Northern Haryana sub-regions of the National Capital Region (NCR)

During the review, the Secretary assessed:

  • Phase-I development progress

  • External road and rail connectivity

  • Internal rail infrastructure integration

  • Planned logistics components such as EXIM zones, warehousing clusters, container stacking yards and transportation hubs

Once operational, the IMLH is expected to significantly reduce logistics costs, improve supply chain efficiency and enhance export competitiveness — aligning with India's broader goal of lowering logistics costs from around 13–14% of GDP to global benchmarks of 8–9%.

Senior state officials, including Shri Sushil Sarwan (MD, HSIIDC) and district administration representatives, participated in the review, highlighting coordinated Centre-State execution.

Neemrana Solar Project Showcases Industrial Decarbonisation Model

The delegation then moved to Neemrana, Rajasthan, where the Secretary reviewed the NICDC Neemrana Solar Power Project — a pioneering Indo-Japan collaboration that integrates renewable energy with industrial infrastructure.

The project features a 6 MW solar installation, including a 5 MW operational plant, and incorporates smart micro-grid systems designed to provide reliable and sustainable power to industrial units.

During the visit, Shri Bhatia inaugurated the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system, a key digital infrastructure component that enables:

  • Real-time monitoring of power generation

  • Efficient grid management

  • Enhanced operational reliability

The Neemrana project is being positioned as a replicable model for green industrial zones, supporting India's commitments to energy transition, carbon reduction and sustainable manufacturing.

₹7,500 Crore Jodhpur-Pali-Marwar Industrial Area to Drive Regional Growth

A major focus of the visit was the Jodhpur-Pali-Marwar Industrial Area (JPMIA), a large-scale industrial node under development in Rajasthan.

Spread over approximately 1,578 acres, the project is strategically located between Jodhpur and Pali, with strong connectivity via:

  • National Highway 62 (NH-62)

  • State Highways SH-64, SH-68

  • Access routes to NH-25

The node is being developed through the Rajasthan Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (RIDCO), a joint SPV of RIICO and NICDC.

Key projections for JPMIA include:

  • ₹7,500 crore in expected investments

  • Approximately 40,000 employment opportunities

  • Focus on sectors such as textiles, agro-processing, engineering goods, automobiles, handicrafts and building materials

The Secretary reviewed:

  • Progress of trunk infrastructure (roads, utilities, drainage, power)

  • Project management frameworks

  • Implementation timelines and milestones

He emphasised the need for time-bound execution, investor facilitation and seamless coordination to ensure the project meets its economic potential.

Shri Suresh Kumar Ola (MD, RIICO) and senior officials provided updates on implementation progress and sectoral strategy.

Industry Engagement Highlights Ease of Doing Business Priorities

The visit also included stakeholder consultations in Neemrana and subsequent inspections of industrial townships such as IMT Bawal and IMT Sohna, including the TDK Battery Manufacturing Plant, a key example of advanced manufacturing investment in the region.

Industry representatives used the platform to highlight:

  • Infrastructure gaps and operational challenges

  • Need for faster approvals and regulatory clarity

  • Importance of strengthening logistics connectivity

  • Demand for enhanced support in research, development and technology commercialisation

The discussions reinforced the role of industrial corridors not just as infrastructure projects, but as ecosystems for innovation, investment and export growth.

Government Push for Coordinated, Industry-Responsive Development

Addressing stakeholders, Shri Bhatia reiterated that the success of industrial corridor projects depends on continuous engagement and responsiveness to industry needs.

"DPIIT, NICDC and State Governments are working in close coordination to ensure that these projects effectively address implementation challenges and industry requirements," he said.

He emphasised that regular field visits and stakeholder consultations are essential tools for:

  • Identifying bottlenecks early

  • Accelerating decision-making

  • Enhancing investor confidence

NICDC Reaffirms Commitment to Global-Standard Industrial Infrastructure

Shri Rajat Kumar Saini highlighted NICDC's ongoing efforts to build world-class industrial infrastructure that aligns with global manufacturing standards.

He noted that the corridor programme is designed to:

  • Facilitate large-scale domestic and foreign investment

  • Promote sustainable industrial cities

  • Generate employment at scale

  • Strengthen India's position in global supply chains

Industrial Corridors as Engines of Economic Transformation

The National Industrial Corridor Programme is a flagship initiative aimed at developing integrated industrial regions with high-quality infrastructure, logistics connectivity and investment-ready ecosystems.

With multiple corridors under development — including the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) and others — the programme is expected to play a pivotal role in:

  • Boosting manufacturing's share in GDP

  • Enhancing export competitiveness

  • Creating millions of jobs

  • Driving balanced regional development

The DPIIT Secretary's visit signals a renewed push to ensure that these projects move from planning to execution at speed, delivering tangible economic outcomes on the ground.
