Naveen Patnaik, Odisha's BJD supremo, has urgently called for Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's intervention following a tragic incident in Keonjhar where a tribal man exhumed his sister's skeleton to authenticate a financial claim. Patnaik stressed the need for immediate accountability within rural banks, insisting on citizen-centric service.

Highlighting the April 27 incident, Patnaik described how Jeetu Munda was forced to present his sister's remains at the Odisha Grameen Bank's Malliposi branch after multiple attempts to withdraw rightful dues were thwarted. Patnaik cited this shocking act as a consequence of procedural insensitivity and demanded deeper scrutiny.

Patnaik expressed gratitude towards Physics Wallah's CEO Alakh Pandey for donating Rs 10 lakh to the affected man, emphasizing the importance of compassionate action. This incident, which has drawn widespread attention, serves as a reminder of the need for humane policy implementations, especially in tribal regions.
