In a major crackdown, Delhi Police have dismantled an organized syndicate involved in high-end vehicle thefts across several states. Authorities have arrested ten key figures and successfully recovered 31 luxury vehicles with tampered chassis numbers, according to a press release on Saturday.
The operation was launched following an e-FIR filed in August 2025 when a Pitampura resident reported her SUV stolen. Investigations revealed a broader scheme that spanned Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, and Himachal Pradesh, extending beyond mere theft to include fraudulent re-registration of cars using manipulated documents and identifiers.
Among those apprehended was the alleged ring leader, Damandeep Singh, known by his alias Lucky, who managed a used-car dealership. The syndicate also allegedly used unauthorized credentials to manipulate the VAHAN portal for illegal vehicle registration. Officials warn of further undiscovered operations and potential links to other criminal activities.
