Maharashtra Congress president Harshwardhan Sapkal condemned the state government's handling of a tragic incident involving the rape and murder of a four-year-old girl. He demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who also serves as the home minister, due to a perceived collapse in law enforcement and public safety.
The accused, a 65-year-old man with a criminal past, allegedly lured the young girl under false pretenses and committed the atrocity before killing her. This incident has sparked outrage and highlighted the lack of fear among criminals toward the law enforcement machinery in Maharashtra.
NCP leader Jayant Patil called the crime a societal shame, urging for the strictest penalties. Sapkal cited the rampant corruption in the home department and unsolved crimes against women, emphasizing overall governance failures including unmet promises on economic fronts.
