Embezzlement Scandal in Pilibhit: Seven Arrests in Rs 5.5 Crore Fraud
Seven women, including relatives of accused peon Ilham-ur-Rahman Shamsi, were arrested for embezzling Rs 5.5 crore from the District Inspector of Schools office in Pilibhit. The funds were siphoned off over eight years using fake teacher identities. Shamsi's third wife, a teacher, is on bail.

In a significant embezzlement case in Pilibhit, police have arrested seven women, including close family members of the accused peon, Ilham-ur-Rahman Shamsi. The women were involved in siphoning off Rs 5.5 crore from the District Inspector of Schools office.
Shamsi, linked to the office for eight years, allegedly created fake teacher identities to transfer funds into private accounts. The scandal came to light after a bank manager reported suspicious activity, leading to a full-scale investigation.
Despite the magnitude of the fraud, Shamsi managed to secure anticipatory bail, while the arrests continue. Officials have identified 53 suspicious accounts, freezing Rs 5.5 crore so far.
