In a significant breakthrough, police have apprehended a 32-year-old man accused of orchestrating an online car sale scam in Delhi. The man, identified as Aman Sethi, allegedly deceived a resident of Rs 2 lakh by posing as an employee from a renowned car sales platform. The arrest was made following an FIR filed in April.
The victim, Harish from Trilokpuri, was lured into transferring the amount as booking and processing charges for a second-hand car, which was never delivered. Detailed investigations, including the analysis of KYC details and digital footprints, led to the suspect's identification. The suspect was reportedly evading arrest by changing locations.
Sethi's interrogation revealed his involvement in another case registered at Krishna Nagar police station, indicating a repeated pattern of scams. Items such as debit cards and mobile phones used in these fraudulent activities were recovered. The case highlights the vulnerability of online platforms to such scams.
