Poppy Straw Seized: Major Drug Busts in Jharkhand

In a significant crackdown on narcotics trade, law enforcement agencies in Jharkhand have arrested an individual and seized poppy straw valued at Rs 1.32 crore. The operations were conducted in Chatra and Ranchi districts, targeting illicit transportation and storage of narcotics.
In Chatra district, police acted on intelligence and conducted vehicle searches, leading to the arrest of Ajay Kumar Saw. Officials intercepted a tempo carrying 535 kg of poppy straw, intended for Bihar. The market value of the seized drug is Rs 42 lakh, with the accused now facing charges under the NDPS Act.
In a separate operation, 400 kg of poppy straw was discovered concealed in a forest in Ranchi. This follows another major seizure of 258 kg in Chatra's Lawalong area. Authorities emphasize continued vigilance against drug trafficking, seeking to dismantle networks supplying narcotics in and out of Jharkhand.
