The Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA) has welcomed a significant diplomatic breakthrough following high-level engagements between the AmaRharhabe Traditional Council and the Nigerian High Commission, describing the outcome as a "constructive and forward-looking resolution" to a sensitive cultural dispute in the Eastern Cape.

The meeting, held in KuGompo under the leadership of AmaRharhabe King Jonguxolo Sandile, brought together senior traditional authorities and Nigerian High Commissioner to South Africa, Alexander Temitope Ajayi, marking a pivotal moment in strengthening bilateral relations and reinforcing social cohesion at community level.
