A court in Israel has decided to prolong the detention of two activists arrested on a flotilla bound for Gaza. The flotilla, which aimed to break Israel's blockade of Gaza by providing humanitarian aid, was intercepted by Israeli forces while in international waters near Greece.
The activists, Saif Abu Keshek from Spain and Thiago Avila from Brazil, were seized and taken to Israel. Israeli authorities have accused them of severe charges, such as aiding the enemy and involvement with a terrorist group, while other activists were relocated to Crete.
Their detention has been extended until May 10, with human rights lawyers from Adalah planning to appeal, arguing there are no legal grounds for their detention and refuting allegations of torture in custody by Israeli authorities.
