India and Philippines Forge New Collaboration on Migration

India and the Philippines are discussing collaboration on issues of mobility and migration during a forum in New York. The talks aim to address labor mobility and overseas employment, with India presenting its achievements in digital migration governance at the International Migration Review Forum.

India and the Philippines have embarked on discussions to enhance collaboration on mobility and migration. These talks occurred on the sidelines of a forum in New York, where India's Minister of State for External Affairs, Kirti Vardhan Singh, met with Hans Leo Cacdac, the Secretary of the Department of Migrant Workers of the Philippines.

Singh shared the purpose of the meeting, stating it was to address mutual interests in labor mobility and overseas employment. The meeting took place as Singh led India's delegation to the second International Migration Review Forum (IMRF), hosted under the aegis of the UN General Assembly.

The forum, which runs from May 4 to 8, is aimed at discussing progress on a UN migration agreement to aid sustainable development goals. India, recognized as a significant source of migrant workers worldwide, will also host a side event, spotlighting its achievements in digital innovations for migration governance.
