In a significant breakthrough, Delhi Police have apprehended 38-year-old Sumit Rana after months on the run. Accused of being involved in the murder of boxer Vikas Dagar, Rana's arrest brings one of the key figures of the notorious Sonu gang to justice.

Rana, known by his alias Chhotu, was arrested from Adarsh Nagar. This follows a crime conspiracy believed to have been rooted in a longstanding feud. Rana's gang member Sonu Thekedar allegedly shot Dagar, leading to his immediate death on July 29, 2025.

The months-long investigation saw the arrest of gang leader Sonu Thekedar earlier in Chandigarh, while Rana continued evading capture until recently. Rana’s movements took him across states, as he frequently changed hideouts, assisted by associates to avoid arrest, despite previously having had a legitimate career in hotel management and business trading.
