In a scathing indictment of Uttar Pradesh's legal infrastructure, the Allahabad High Court has pinpointed government inefficiencies as a major contributor to the backlog of criminal cases in district courts.
During a hearing rejecting bail for murder accused Mevalal Prajapati, Justice Arun Kumar Singh Deshwal emphasized the challenges judicial officers face due to inadequate staffing and lack of police cooperation.
The court called for state action to improve forensic capabilities, fill staffing gaps, and enhance personal security for judges, highlighting systemic flaws weakening trust in justice.
