The commission, chaired by Justice Alexander Thomas, has instructed the Thiruvananthapuram Rural District Police Chief to ensure the probe is conducted effectively and transparently.
The incident involved a man allegedly attacking the 62-year-old woman, Leela, who was living alone. The commission has requested that a report be submitted within three weeks, requiring a senior officer of DySP-level to handle the case and ascertain the true culprits behind the attack.
According to reports, Leela was left unconscious for hours after the assault and managed to crawl to the roadside after regaining consciousness, where she eventually received assistance. This alarming event was brought to the commission's attention through news reports, and a follow-up session is scheduled for June 5.
