An unidentified thief has stolen the 800-year-old skull believed to belong to Saint Zdislava of Lemberk from a church display in northern Czech Republic, police disclosed on Wednesday.

Security cameras captured a shadowy figure wearing black holding what appeared to be the skull, fleeing the Saint Lawrence and Saint Zdislava basilica in Jablonne v Podjestedi, located 110 km north of Prague. The incident occurred on Tuesday, leaving authorities and church officials in shock.

In response to the theft, Prague Archbishop Stanislav Pribyl expressed his devastation, emphasizing the skull's historical and spiritual value to believers. Police are scrutinizing security footage to confirm the thief's identity, initially presumed to be a man.
