The victim and her mother issued a formal complaint leading to the registration of the case at the Gopiganj Police Station, revealing long-standing obscene advances and attempted rape. The man opposed the planned marriage vehemently, issuing threats that endangered the safety of both the stepdaughter and her mother.
In addition to these allegations, the woman's in-laws are being scrutinized for dowry-related harassment.
