In a concerted effort to curb illegal immigration, the Border Security Force (BSF) and Assam Police intercepted 12 suspected infiltrators attempting to enter Assam, as announced by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday.

Sarma reiterated the state's firm stance on maintaining a zero-tolerance policy against illegal immigration and any potential demographic shifts. 'At 12:20 AM, Assam Police and BSF India thwarted the unauthorized entry of 12 individuals,' Sarma declared on social media platform 'X'.

Though the precise border district involved wasn't disclosed, Assam remains vigilant along its extensive 263-km border with Bangladesh, encompassing the regions of Dhubri, South Salmara-Mankachar, Sribhumi, and Cachar.
