Foreign Funds Fuel Violent Labour Protests in Noida

The Gautam Buddh Nagar Police revealed that over Rs 1 crore was funneled into an accused's account from foreign nations amidst violent labour protests. Satyam Verma and Akriti, linked to the unrest, face charges under the National Security Act. Investigations into Verma's financial ties are ongoing.

The Gautam Buddh Nagar Police have uncovered a financial trail linking foreign funds to last month's violent labour protests in Noida. In a recent statement, the police revealed that over Rs 1 crore, in various foreign currencies, was discovered in the personal bank account of accused protestor Satyam Verma.

This discovery emerged during an investigation into demonstrations that saw around 45,000 workers converging across 80 locations, disrupting normal life. The protests, which devolved into violence and arson, forced police intervention and led to the filing of multiple cases under the Commissionerate's purview.

Verma, arrested on April 19 with accomplice Himanshu Thakur, is a member of the Left-wing 'Bigul Mazdoor Dasta' group. Both face charges under the National Security Act, as authorities conduct an intensive probe into his financial activities and organizational affiliations.
