French Judge to Probe Saudi Crown Prince's Involvement in Khashoggi Killing

A French investigative judge is set to probe a complaint implicating Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in the 2018 assassination of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, according to the national anti-terrorism prosecutor's office, PNAT.

The probe follows a decision by the Paris Court of Appeal, which deemed the allegations admissible as potential crimes against humanity. The groups, Trial International and Reporters Without Borders, accuse the crown prince of complicity in torture and enforced disappearance.

Despite his denial of ordering the killing, US intelligence has suggested bin Salman's involvement. Saudi authorities held a closed-door trial, deemed insufficient by rights organizations, but the French inquiry will determine the possibility of further legal action.
