Police Encounter Uncovers Cow Smuggling Ring in Meerut

In an intense police encounter in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, a cattle smuggler was apprehended and found to be part of a larger cow smuggling network. Police officials disclosed that the suspect, armed with a country-made pistol, was involved in multiple offenses.
The operation was triggered by the discovery of bovine remains at a sugarcane field in Pachgaon Patti, belonging to Amar Singh, prompting a case under the Uttar Pradesh Prevention of Cow Slaughter Act. The situation escalated when intelligence indicated that the accused, identified as Yameen, was heading towards Medpur.
Police intercepted him, but the accused retaliated, resulting in a brief exchange of fire that left him injured. During interrogation, Yameen confessed to being part of previous cow slaughter incidents and admitted to various crimes, including illegal weapon possession and theft, with 11 cases lodged against him across different stations in Meerut.
