Odisha Police Crack Down on Crime: Over 1,700 Arrested in Five-Day Drive
In a concerted effort to tackle crime, Odisha Police have arrested 1,771 individuals and seized a significant quantity of ganja, illegal firearms, and other contraband. Conducted over five days, the operation aimed to execute warrants, clamp down on narcotics smuggling, and curb illegal activities across the state.

In an expansive operation conducted by the Odisha Police, 1,771 individuals were apprehended over a period of five days, during which over 3,000 kg of ganja and 20 unlicensed firearms were seized. The police operation, initiated by DGP Yogesh Bahadur Khurania, focused on executing non-bailable warrants and arresting wanted criminals across the state.
The operation also aimed to disrupt narcotic smuggling and tackle illegal transportation involving firearms and minerals. Additionally, under the supervision of Additional Director General of Police Sanjay Kumar, the police made substantial headway in cases related to drunken driving and executed over 1,700 non-bailable warrants.
In a determined fight against crime, the Odisha Police emphasized immediate action and efficiency, arresting many suspects within 72 hours of complaint registrations. Furthermore, significant fines were imposed under the Motor Vehicles Act, and multiple cases of cow smuggling and illegal mining were prosecuted, resulting in numerous arrests and asset seizures.
