Odisha Police Crackdown: Massive Arrests and Seizures in Statewide Blitz

The Odisha Police, in a major enforcement operation, arrested 1,771 individuals and seized more than 3,000 kg of ganja, 20 unlicensed firearms, and various other illegal items.
Directed by DGP Yogesh Bahadur Khurania, the five-day crackdown from May 12-16 aimed to execute non-bailable warrants, prevent narcotics smuggling, and curb illegal mining. Police conducted raids statewide, resulting in 31 NDPS cases and seizures worth Rs 1.89 crore in fines under the MV Act.
Officials targeted habitual offenders, smuggling networks, and illegal weapon transport. The drive saw the rescue of 33 cows, the seizure of 179 vehicles, and action against 966 cases of drunken driving.
