A 15-year-old girl from Odisha's Mayurbhanj district was allegedly threatened with a seven-year jail term by a police officer if her harassment complaint proved to be false, leading to her collapse, according to statements made on Sunday by officials.
The girl's family filed a formal complaint against the inspector in charge of Morada Police Station, alleging mental harassment. The family claims that the officer's conduct pushed the minor girl's health to worsen, resulting in her hospitalization after she fainted.
Additional SP Deepak Kumar Gochayat confirmed that a case under various sections of the BNS and POCSO has been registered against the man accused of harassing the minor. Concurrently, an investigation into the conduct of the officer is underway, with CCTV footage being reviewed by senior authorities.
