In a decisive move against drug-related crime, police in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district have attached property valued at approximately Rs 1.25 crore. The property is said to belong to alleged drug peddler Sudesh Mehta and includes both shops and a roadside eatery, or 'dhaba', at Chapper Morh in Hiranagar.
This action is executed under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act's legal provisions. Officials disclosed that the property was reportedly acquired using illicit funds from drug trafficking operations. The formal attachment operation was carried out in the presence of officials from various governmental departments, solidifying the legal process.
The local community has praised the police for this impactful action, viewing it as a key step toward eradicating the drug menace. Authorities reiterated their intention to intensify efforts against individuals profiting from narcotic trade networks by targeting both the drug channels and associated financial assets.
