The cleric emphasized this restriction hampers basic humanitarian gestures.
The incident, which has already led to the arrest of a suspect, unfolded when the young girl went missing and was later found murdered near her home, sparking outrage and condemnation. The alleged house arrest of the Mirwaiz has intensified the tensions.
Prominent political figure, Mehbooba Mufti, condemned the action against the Mirwaiz, stating it was unjust to prevent him from offering condolences. She asserted that the region was collective in its grief and criticized such authoritative measures, urging for a more compassionate approach.
