Six members of a gang were arrested with arms and ammunition in Jharkhand's Ramgarh district, police said on Tuesday.
Police arrested the accused within the Patratu police station limits on Monday during raids at multiple locations following a tip-off that the gang members were planning to execute a subversive activity at a local industrial unit for extortion money.
''We arrested six miscreants who allegedly belong to the gangster Rahul Dubey, who is active in the coal region and industrial belt, following the tip-off. The police have seized a country-made pistol, two magazines, 34 cartridges, three motorcycles, and six Android mobile phones,'' Ramgarh Superintendent of Police (SP) Mukesh Kumar Lunayat said.
The SP said the miscreants earlier were involved in multiple firing incidents in the area. They have confessed to their involvement in firing incidents at the railway flyover construction site, dairy farm and a cement factory in Patratu, he said.
An FIR against the accused was lodged at the police station, and they were forwarded to judicial custody.
