Two police officials were among seven people abducted by unidentified gunmen in the restive Balochistan province in Pakistan, police said on Tuesday.
The incident took place on Monday evening in Dera Bugti, a gas-rich area of the province, according to a senior police official.
A police party was accompanying a group of people in the Pera Sala area of Dera Bugti when armed assailants attacked the convoy and took them hostage, the official said.
No individual or group has claimed responsibility for the abduction.
"Two police personnel were also abducted along with five civilians," the official added.
The security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation.
Last week, an airport security officer and his associate were abducted from the Kalat area of Balochistan.
The government accuses the Baloch Liberation Army of conducting attacks against security forces and national installations in Balochistan.
