Eighteen suspects allegedly involved in the program have been detained, spanning military, political, and technical spheres. Some of these individuals were high-ranking officers under Assad, with names on international sanctions lists. Syria, now cooperating with Western allies, aims to dismantle these legacy weapons.

The Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) found undeclared munitions, including aerial bombs and rockets, and chemicals for sarin production in Syria's northern and central regions. The OPCW continues its mission as Syria seeks to eradicate remaining stockpiles, enhancing national and global security against weapons of mass destruction.
