The Government of India has intensified its push to expand financial inclusion and credit access in the Northeast, with more than ₹419 crore in loans distributed to over 10,000 beneficiaries during a major Credit Outreach Program held in Tripura West district.
The programme, organised in Agartala on 26 May 2026, was chaired by M. Nagaraju, Secretary of the Department of Financial Services (DFS) under the Ministry of Finance, and attended by senior officials from the Government of Tripura, public sector banks, financial institutions, and development agencies.
The initiative forms part of the Centre's broader strategy to strengthen banking penetration, support entrepreneurship, improve access to finance, and accelerate economic development across northeastern states.
