Kerala Man Freed from Saudi Jail Returns After 20 Years

After spending almost two decades in a Saudi prison under a death sentence, Abdul Rahim has finally returned to his home state of Kerala. His release was secured when his supporters raised Rs 34 crore for blood money via crowdfunding. This significant amount was gathered before the rapidly approaching deadline.
Upon landing at Karipur airport, Rahim was warmly greeted by family and local residents. Emotional scenes unfolded as he reunited with his mother, embraced by the community that had aided his release. Celebrations were amplified as his return coincided with the Bakrid festival, heightening the collective joy.
Rahim expressed heartfelt gratitude to those who supported him, making his long-awaited reunion with his family possible. Accused of accidentally causing the death of a Saudi boy, Rahim was originally sentenced to death in 2018. However, relentless efforts by his community led to his freedom as the required blood money was paid.
