Neymar's World Cup Hopes Hang in Balance as Injury Concerns Persist
Neymar missed Brazil's initial World Cup training due to a calf injury and underwent further medical evaluations. Although he joined the team camp, his participation in upcoming matches remains uncertain. The Brazilian forward aims for his first World Cup trophy in his fourth tournament appearance.
Neymar's participation in Brazil's FIFA World Cup campaign is uncertain as the forward missed the team's initial training session due to a bruised right calf. According to the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), he is undergoing additional medical evaluations to assess the injury's severity.
Neymar, under the assessment of team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar, underwent an MRI scan while reporting to the national team camp in Teresopolis. However, he skipped the on-field training session. ESPN reports that his readiness for Brazil's World Cup warm-up match against Panama in Brasilia is undecided pending further medical results.
Despite uncertainty about his fitness, Neymar was seen unfazed when questioned about the injury at a Copa Sudamericana game. Brazil will face Egypt in another preparatory match before commencing their World Cup pursuit against Morocco on June 13. Coach Carlo Ancelotti previously excluded Neymar for not being in full physical form, underscoring the importance of fitness.
