Authorities in Uttarakhand have detained two individuals suspected of operating a counterfeit currency ring. Law enforcement officials disclosed that both genuine and fraudulent notes, with a combined face value of Rs 4.54 crore, were found.

The suspects, Muntiyaj and Manoj Kumar from Udham Singh Nagar, allegedly used real Rs 500 notes to conceal fake ones branded with 'Children Bank of India' beneath them. The police executed the arrests after receiving a tip-off about suspicious activities involving a significant sum of money.

The arrest occurred near Panchpuri Gularbhoj on Safta Farm Road, where a search led to the discovery of 157 bundles of counterfeit Rs 500 notes hidden in a monochrome-striped bag. This operation was carried out by the team from Gadarpur police station.

Bazpur Circle Officer Akhilesh Kumar stated that a meticulous investigation is underway to determine the origin and intended distribution of the fake currency. Authorities are also examining the prior criminal records of the individuals involved and mapping out the counterfeit network.
