In West Bengal, Agnimitra Paul has defended the detailed 12-page form required for the new 'Annapurna Yojana' initiative. This direct cash transfer scheme aims to provide monthly support to women, ensuring benefits reach only Indian citizens.

The intricate form has drawn criticism, with claims that exhaustive information requirements might sideline genuine beneficiaries. Nonetheless, Paul critiques the Trinamool Congress, affirming the BJP's stance against extending benefits to non-citizens. She stated, "We will not allow non-Indians to benefit from public welfare schemes."

Paul also highlighted that the BJP government will replace the earlier 'Lakshmir Bhandar' with the 'Annapurna Bhandar', offering Rs 3,000 monthly to eligible recipients, significantly more than previous provisions.
