Swiss Ambassador to India, Maya Tissafi, recently engaged in discussions with Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. The meetings focused on exploring collaborative opportunities in fields including sustainable tourism, vocational training, and agriculture.
Reflecting on the visits, Tissafi emphasized Switzerland's role in regional development, noting contributions in infrastructure, technology, and research. She also visited Gulmarg, appreciating the scenic beauty and cinematic allure while underscoring shared responsibilities in sustainable tourism and disaster risk management.
Tissafi highlighted joint efforts like the Himalayan glaciology program at the University of Kashmir and cloud research with ETH Zurich. Additionally, she expressed admiration for the region’s artisanal crafts, equating the beauty of Kashmir's landscapes with its cultural heritage.
