Dhanendra Kumar, known for his role as the first chairman of the Competition Commission of India (CCI), tragically died due to a house fire in south Delhi, just days before his anticipated 80th birthday celebrations. The fire broke out at his home in the Hauz Khas Enclave on Wednesday night.
The blaze, suspected to have been caused by a short-circuit in an air-conditioner, critically injured his son, Gaurav, who had returned from London for the celebrations. Kumar succumbed to smoke inhalation after being found unconscious, while his son remains hospitalized. The Delhi Fire Service responded quickly, and an investigation is ongoing.
