Delhi Traffic Police Launches Digital Payment for On-the-Spot Fines

The Delhi Traffic Police has introduced a digital payment system for instant traffic challans. Utilizing handheld devices, commuters can now pay fines directly using UPI, debit, or credit cards. The initiative includes distributing 1,500 e-challan machines, enhancing efficiency and promoting cashless transactions through the Bharat Bill Payment System.

In a significant shift towards cashless transactions, the Delhi Traffic Police has rolled out a digital payment facility for immediate traffic challans. Commuters can now settle their fines on the spot using Unified Payments Interface (UPI), debit, or credit cards through handheld devices provided to traffic personnel.

This advancement allows both current and pending compoundable challans to be paid digitally, thanks to nearly 1,500 newly distributed e-challan machines among the city's traffic officials. These upgraded devices offer rapid challan generation, instant payment processing, and enhanced data management.

Additional features include capturing photos of the violators and notifying vehicle owners about towing via mobile alerts. Integration with the Bharat Bill Payment System ensures a secure and seamless payment experience, further decreasing the need for physical counter visits. Training sessions were held for field officers to ensure the smooth execution of this upgraded system.
