A federal judge in the United States has issued a temporary injunction against the Trump administration's plans to distribute funds from a USD 1.8 billion settlement intended to compensate Trump allies alleging government targeting.

Judge Leonie Brinkema, officiating in Alexandria, Virginia, prohibited further steps in establishing this 'Anti-Weaponisation Fund' until the resolution of an ongoing legal battle questioning the fund's legitimacy. A court date set for June 12 will deliberate on the possibility of extending the hold on these payments. This fund was originally developed to address a lawsuit filed by Trump against the IRS concerning leaks of his tax returns.
