Suvendu Adhikari has highlighted the critical role of Census 2027 in understanding demographic changes in West Bengal, attributing shifts to what he describes as 'infiltration from Bangladesh'. He stated that upcoming self-enumeration phases beginning August 1 are vital for capturing accurate population data.
Adhikari criticised the previous administration for failing to fence border areas, resulting in demographic disruptions. He noted that gathering Census data will aid in policy decisions and distribution of welfare schemes. He encouraged public participation as a legal duty and mentioned new digital measures for data collection. Additionally, he blamed the previous government for delaying Census preparations, leaving Bengal behind in the nationwide process.
