The Delhi High Court has instructed Google to compensate Hindware with Rs 30 lakh for unjust use of its trademark as keywords in Google's AdWords programme. This ruling highlights the court's stance on protecting trademark rights in digital advertising.
Additionally, the court dismissed a public interest litigation challenging the President's nomination of BJP leader C Sadanandan Master to the Rajya Sabha, affirming the legality of the decision. In another key verdict, the court upheld TRAI's regulation of restricting advertisements to 12 minutes per hour, emphasizing that the Constitution does not guarantee unlimited profitability from public resources.
Moreover, the Delhi High Court refrained from altering the state government's refusal to grant Pernod Ricard an L1 licence for wholesale liquor supply. Regarding the case in which a female teacher was allegedly involved in the rape of a child, Delhi Police requested the cancellation of her bail.
Lastly, the High Court asked a technology review committee to examine the ban on the satirical Cockroach Janta Party's social media account, directing them to decide by early July, and requested reports on educational infrastructure in areas considered for slum relocation near the prime minister's residence.
