The United States military has launched another operation targeting a boat suspected of carrying illegal drugs in the eastern Pacific Ocean. This strike, occurring on Friday, resulted in the deaths of three individuals, raising the weekly attack tally to three and pushing the overall death toll from these operations above 200.
Announced by the US Southern Command, this latest offensive forms part of an extended campaign against alleged drug-running vessels moving through the Caribbean Sea and eastern Pacific. While these actions are described as targeting vessels engaged in "narco-trafficking operations" linked to terrorist organizations, no additional evidence was provided. Notably, this operation featured a video captured in color for the first time.
The US Southern Command noted that the order for this strike was issued by General Francis L Donovan, the leading US commander for Latin America. This comes amid heightened efforts by the US administration, which has declared a state of armed conflict with Latin American drug cartels, blaming them for drug inflows into American communities.
