The CPI(M) has raised serious financial misconduct allegations against the Congress-operated Kadathanad Labour Contract Co-operative Society in Kozhikode, linking the purported fraud to the tragic suicide of Ibrahimkutty Haji, a depositor. CPI(M) secretary M V Govindan alleged that the society's failure to return Haji's deposits amounted to a 'murder'.
According to sources, Haji's deposited funds were withheld despite numerous pleas, compelling him to reportedly set himself ablaze outside a local Congress leader's house. The cooperative's response promised eventual repayment, pending government fund release. This incident has sparked a police investigation into the society's operations.
