Actor Manoj Bajpayee shared that the uproar surrounding the title of his upcoming movie 'Ghooskhor Pandat' temporarily disrupted the team, while he faced personal threats. Although the film's name, considered casteist by some, has yet to be changed, the team swiftly issued an apology in response to the backlash.
Bajpayee emphasized that the controversy's impact was short-lived, as he continued his professional obligations without fear despite the threats. He remarked on the rush to judgment on social media, explaining that the actual theme of the film is often overlooked by critics forming opinions prematurely.
This crime thriller, featuring direction by Ritesh Shah and production under Neeraj Pandey, was announced by Netflix earlier this year. The film title incited notable social media outrage, leading to legal actions and involvement from the National Human Rights Commission.
The actor, dismissing the negativity, reiterated the readiness of the creative team to produce alternative titles if necessary. Bajpayee is also looking forward to the release of his next project, "Governor: The Silent Saviour," slated to premiere on June 12.
